Abby and Adam met their freshman year college at the University of Maryland. They lived on the same floor of Cumberland Hall, coincidentally the same dorm where Adam’s parents met. They were good friends in college, but didn’t start dating until after they graduated. Adam knew from early on that Abby was something special. They drove the 40 minute Baltimore-Silver Spring drive constantly. They didn’t want to spend more than a night or two a week away from each other. When they finally moved in together in August, there were no growing pains at all. Adam knew it was a perfect situation, and they still get so excited to get to be together at the end of the day every day.
When Adam was planning the proposal, he started brainstorming with Abby’s girlfriends to get ideas. He knew Abby had gone to look at rings so it was helpful having ideas when he went to the jeweler. Even back in college before they were dating, Abby and Adam took an annual trip to the
National Zoo. Once they started dating, they still tried to take a zoo trip once or twice a year. Since the zoo has always been a special place for these two, Adam decided proposing there would be the perfect venue.
Abby and Adam were having brunch with Abby’s parents before they were set to arrive at the zoo. And I was waiting for them. When I spotted them, I followed them around for a few minutes trying to act like any regular tourist with a camera. Then they arrived at the “spot” that I had discussed with Adam. He got down on one knew and popped the question. Abby’s answer, “Of course!” She couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear. And Adam says she hasn’t stopped yet :).
I am so happy for Abby and Adam and so excited I could be there to document the proposal for them. So fun and so exciting! Congrats you two!
