I have a special treat for you today–a secret homecoming! Canon contacted me a couple of months before arriving back to Baltimore after spending six months in Afghanistan. After ten years in the Navy, Canon was gone this time because of his job with the DOD. He wanted me to show up at the airport, photograph his homecoming, and then just leave. All without his girlfriend, Alaina, even noticing I was there. What an awesome boyfriend!! I think he was most excited about her reaction when she saw the photos. When we were planning it, he just kept saying how excited she would be about this. So, so sweet!
I arrived at the airport before Alaina so Canon and I were texting back and forth making sure I was all set before he came out of security. After spotting Alaina, I could tell she was so excited. She was pacing back and forth at baggage claim waiting for her love to arrive. When she spotted Canon coming down the escalator, she started walking towards him…fast. I had to run after her and try to stay hidden at the same time. They embraced and literally did not let go for the next couple of minutes. Everyone around them was looking because they could tell this was a special reunion. These two were totally unaware and just so happy to be with one another again.
I still haven’t officially met either one of these two lovebirds since I was incognito the entire time, but what a great moment to be able to witness and document for them. Welcome back home Canon and I’m so happy you and Alaina get to be with one another once again!
