Halleh & Basir knew exactly what they wanted for their wedding day–a day for their friends and family to come together and for their Baha’i wedding ceremony to be the most important part of the day. Their Baha’i Faith is very important to both of them and is actually how these two originally met. We skipped photographing the getting ready part of the day and started off with their wedding portraits on the gorgeous grounds of Newton White Mansion in Maryland. It was a beautiful (although freezing) day so Halleh & Basir wore their winter coats which added to the romance in their pictures. Halleh & Basir had a receiving line before the ceremony. After the receiving line, the ceremony started with many close friends and family members doing readings and explaining the Baha’i wedding ceremony. After a quick ring exchange, these two were officially married and signed both the Maryland marriage license and the Baha’i marriage license. The reception was filled with so much joy and celebration. Typically during a daytime reception (as this was), the dancing is pretty low key. But as Halleh told me afterwards, Persian weddings are always full of dancing no matter the time. I loved photographing Halleh & Basir and I wish these two the happiest of futures together!
