Jesse and Kelsey both live in Youngstown, Ohio. Jesse decided to take Kelsey on a long weekend trip to Washington DC. These two take weekend trips together all the time so it wasn’t too out of the ordinary for Kelsey, but Jesse had something different in mind for this trip. They arrived in DC on a Thursday. They did a little sightseeing during the day and then went back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner. While getting ready, Jesse was sending me pictures of what Kelsey was wearing. After the 2nd outfit, she was set and I was on the lookout with my camera in hand. I waited for these two at the FDR Memorial. Jesse had hired a driver to take them to the memorial before dinner. I was to spot them at the statue of FDR’s dog which is evidently lucky if you pet his ears. Jesse would propose in front of one of the waterfalls and then Hello Cupcake would make a special delivery of delicious cupcakes at our location. Typically during proposal sessions, I have to be extra careful not to be seen because it is usually someplace where there aren’t very many people or at least there aren’t very many people with huge cameras walking around. Luckily, at any of the memorials, statues, etc. in DC, there usually aren’t very many people NOT walking around with a huge camera in tow so it was easy for me to blend into the groups of tourists. The delivery man from Hello Cupcake called me asking about our exact location. Just as I was finished telling him where we were, I spotted Jesse and Kelsey. I quickly hung up the phone and started walking past them so I wouldn’t be noticed. Not too long after I did Jesse got down on one knee and proposed. The ring was in a box that lit up that Jesse had found on Etsy. So cool! Kelsey was shocked and so very happy! Neither one of these two could stop smiling (or kissing for that matter ;)) the entire time I was with them. So cute!! Just as Kelsey was coming to grips with what was going on, Jesse pointed to me so she would know the entire proposal had been photographed. Another surprise. Then the delivery man from Hello Cupcake walked up and handed these two lovebirds a dozen delicious cupcakes–perfect timing and another surprise for Kelsey! I ended the evening with these two by photographing a few portraits. They then got back into their waiting car and were wisked off to dinner to continue celebrating their engagement!
So excited for these two and so happy I could be a part of this special proposal. Kelsey and Jesse, I wish you much happiness in your marriage together!
