Molly & John | Ladew Topiary Gardens | Maryhland Proposal Photographer

This is a long overdue post but is one that is very special to me. About seven years ago, Molly and I both lived in Baltimore City and met through mutual friends. We became fast friends in our single days and have remained good friends even though life has changed quite drastically over the years. I have since married and moved to the burbs and she has moved to the burbs as well. I remember when she first started dating John. As single girlfriends do, you tell each other every single detail about the dates you go on, guys you are talking to, etc and John was no different. Before we even met John, my girlfriends and I thought John was a great match for her. I think we might have known they were a great match before she did. At any rate, fast forward a couple of years later, now my husband and I have couple dates with John & Molly on a regular basis. We love hanging out with these two and I think we were all just waiting for John to pop the question.

I was secretly hoping that when the time did come that John would somehow include me so I could capture the proposal moment. And he did! About a month before the proposal, John called and told me the plan. Yay! He decided to propose on a day that all of us had already planned to hang out. Molly and I had put a date on the calendar but hadn’t decided exactly what to do which worked out perfectly. When John decided he wanted to propose on the beautiful grounds of Ladew Topiary Gardens, I casually mentioned to Molly that I had been wanting to go there and maybe it would be a fun place for us and the guys to visit together. She took the bait and the plan was set.

On the day of the proposal, the weather was iffy. Ladew Topiary Gardens is about an hour away from us and after looking at the forecast, it seemed like it would be ok by the time we arrived. Well the entire car ride there, it was pouring. We didn’t have a plan B and because Molly was in the car with us, it was hard to gauge what John wanted to do. Luckily, Molly is always up for anything and since we drove an hour, we followed John’s lead and decided to go for it. Plus, she couldn’t say no since all three of us thought it would be a great idea to tromp around a garden while it was pouring down rain. We left our shoes at the visitor center and off we went with umbrellas in two. On the upside, there was hardly anyone else there because of the rain. I told Molly I was taking my camera so I could photograph some flowers to print and frame. The plan was for me to ask if they wanted their picture taken since the setting was so beautiful. Molly beat me to it and asked before I even had the chance to offer. When John got down on one knee, she was totally shocked and sooo excited! She knew this day was coming soon but John totally threw her off by involving my husband and I. After Molly said yes, John seriously had the hugest smile on his face the rest of the afternoon. These two are adorable together and I’m so happy my husband and I could be a part of their proposal. And I’m even more stoked that I will be Molly’s matron of honor on her big day! Congrats Molly & John!
