I first met Margaret years ago when I was a member of the Junior League of Baltimore. I’ve seen her at random events over the years and even met John once before they were engaged. She is the absolute best so I was so, so happy when she asked me to photograph her wedding to John. But like most weddings these days, the courthouse elopement wasn’t initially what they had planned for their wedding day. Their big wedding will now be next fall and will be a celebration of their love and their marriage! We started the day off with a first look at the Baltimore City Courthouse where they were married. Funny story. You have to wear masks when you are getting married at the courthouse. At the end of their vows, the officiant says, “You may now salute one another.” We all sort of looked at each other a little confused. Were they not allowed to take off their masks to kiss? So the law-abiding citizens that Margaret & John are, they gave each other an actual salute and everyone started laughing. Then they were told, they could take their masks off to kiss so they did just that. After the ceremony, we headed over to Federal Hill for portraits. I think it might have been the most perfect Fall day this year–leaves, weather, everything. It was so fun spending the day with Margaret and John and their best man and maid of honor. Big weddings are fun too but there is something so, so special about being one of the few people to witness and document their vows. It really does make my job that much sweeter. Big congrats to Margaret & John and I. Can. Not. Wait for their celebration next year!!
